Softball Recap: Southport Cardinals vs. Columbus East Olympians
The Southport Cardinals didn't have quite enough to beat the Columbus East Olympians on Friday and fell 7-6.
Ady Stansbury was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Stansbury was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Natalie Vaeth was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lindsey Vaught also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Southport now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Columbus East, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season.
