Preview: Evansville North Huskies vs. Castle Knights
The Evansville North Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Castle Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Evansville North fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 28-20 victory over Floyd Central on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Evansville North was the (much) better team in the second half.
Evansville North relied on the efforts of Kaleb Harris, who gained 88 total yards and two touchdowns, and Sam Mckinney, who rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Evansville North's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Harris and Kaleb Vashon who racked up six sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Castle entered their tilt with New Albany with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Castle strolled past New Albany with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-17.
Antonio Harris went supernova for Castle, rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry. Harris was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Castle also got a significant boost from Max Mccool, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 96 yards.
Evansville North has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Castle, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Evansville North has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Castle struggles in that department as they've been even better at 212.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Evansville North beat Castle 21-14 in their previous matchup back in August. Will Evansville North repeat their success, or does Castle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
