Basketball Recap: Cedar Ridge Takes a Loss

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 65-33 defeat at the hands of the Stony Point Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while the Tigers are ranked 21st).

Bryson Batton was Cedar Ridge's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Anthony Robinson-Weekly held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Jacob Mcgill took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Stony Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Uzziah Buntyn led the charge by going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Buntyn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Clemons, who posted eight points and seven steals.

Cedar Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Stony Point, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Cedar Ridge has already played their next matchup (against Vandegrift), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Stony Point will head out on the road to take on Manor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Stony Point's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
