Baseball Game Preview: Palatka Panthers vs. Menendez Falcons

The Palatka Panthers will take on the Menendez Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palatka will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Palatka barely beat Father Lopez the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Palatka never let Father Lopez get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Tuesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Cason Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Palatka is 3-1 when Thomas posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Morgan Wiggs, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Menendez posted their closest victory since March 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Covenant School of Jacksonville 3-2.

Lucas Drake was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Barkoskie, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Menendez's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Palatka, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.
