Sulphur and Lincoln Christian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Sulphur had to settle for second. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 28-27 to the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs. That makes it the first time this season Sulphur has let down their home crowd.
Despite the loss, Sulphur still got an impressive performance from Maddax Mobly, who rushed for 140 yards and four touchdowns. Backing up that air attack was Cash Matlack, who rushed for 84 yards.

Mobly was just one part of a punishing run game: Sulphur was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in 12 consecutive games.
Sulphur wouldn't let Lincoln Christian keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Sulphur can thank Bridge Barrett and Mobly for forcing both of them.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braeden Baker, who rushed for 38 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. An impressive showing, but Baker really ramped things up playing D: he made nine total tackles and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Sulphur's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2. As for Lincoln Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
