Softball Recap: Stone Bridge Takes a Loss

Stone Bridge had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it six. They came up short against Independence, falling 11-5. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Independence apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Independence, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

For Independence's part, the team relied heavily on Riley Riccardi, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave Riccardi a new career-high. Lauren Cook was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

While Stone Bridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
