The Velva Aggies will face off against the Westhope/Newburg Sioux at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Velva will be strutting in after a win while Westhope/Newburg will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Velva finally turned things around against Rugby on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Panthers out 3-2.
Velva was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (110-107), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13.
Velva's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Keely Cadwell, who had 19 digs and two aces, and Brynlee Zieman, who had 12 digs. Cadwell has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Velva was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive matchups.
