Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Ocean View Seahawks
The Westminster Lions are on the road again on Friday and play against the Ocean View Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Westminster will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Thursday, Westminster really took it to Godinez Fundamental for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-13 win on the road. The result was nothing new for Westminster, who have now won six matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Westminster got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Benny Burns ii out in front who threw for 126 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. Ezekiel Cedillo also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ocean View fell victim to Laguna Beach's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Breakers, falling 64-0. While losing is never fun, Ocean View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 820th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 176th).
Westminster's victory lifted them to 6-2 while Ocean View's loss dropped them down to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Westminster against Ocean View when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westminster since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
