Baseball Recap: Grandview's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Grandview had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Ellensburg Bulldogs on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Greyhounds have posted since April 29, 2025.

Isaiah Castro made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Castro wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Vicente Benitez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Benitez a new career-high.

Grandview's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Ellensburg, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 9-6.

Coming up, Grandview will head out on the road to face off against Toppenish at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Ellensburg, they will challenge East Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.5, the Red Devils 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
