Baseball Recap: Sumner Comes Up Short

Sumner was the 6-5 winner over Lennard when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sumner Stingrays fell just short of the Lennard Longhorns by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Stingrays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sebastian Peralta made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Sumner now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Lennard, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Sumner and Lennard could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Sumner (ranked 271st) will meet Alonso (ranked 123rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lennard will face off against Strawberry Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 237 places (356 vs. 119).
