Softball Recap: Mingus Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Mingus won the last time they faced Prescott and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Marauders walked away with an 11-6 win over the Badgers. With that victory, the Marauders brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Rory Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julia Meyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daizy Mejia, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mingus is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Prescott, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Mingus will challenge Coconino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 19th straight victory, something the Marauders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Prescott, they will face off against Bradshaw Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Badgers are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
