Basketball Game Preview: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Mesa Ridge Grizzlies

Discovery Canyon is 0-3 against Mesa Ridge since December of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Discovery Canyon Thunder just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Friday, Discovery Canyon took a blow against Air Academy, falling 74-39. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Kadets are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Mesa Ridge suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 45-25 to Canon City. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Mesa Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Discovery Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Discovery Canyon might still be hurting after the 56-30 loss they got from Mesa Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Discovery Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
