Football Recap: North Bend Central Comes Up Short at Home Against Malcolm

North Bend Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Malcolm Clippers 49-8 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Drew Sterup threw for 74 yards on ten of 21 attempts. Braxton Chvatal was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards.

Gavin Little was a one-man wrecking crew For Malcolm. as he threw for 209 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards and one TD on only five carries. Those 209 passing yards gave Little a new career-high.

Coming up, North Bend Central is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Oakland-Craig on Friday. As for Malcolm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
