Basketball Game Preview: Ilwaco Fishermen vs. Forks Spartans

The Ilwaco Fishermen will challenge the Forks Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Saturday, Ilwaco was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to Naselle. While losing is never fun, the Fishermen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Comets are ranked 148th).

Meanwhile, Forks had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 52-41 victory over the Wolverines. The 52-point effort marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Forks' win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Ilwaco, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Ilwaco beat Forks 82-72 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Ilwaco repeat their success, or does Forks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
