Basketball Game Preview: Cross Trojans vs. Baptist Hill Bobcats

Two dominant forwards in Caden Ramsey and Jaden Douglas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cross Trojans will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Baptist Hill Bobcats at 8:00 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-34, which was the final score in Cross' tilt against Bethune-Bowman on Tuesday. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Baptist Hill waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 69-53 victory over the Riptide. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bobcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Riptide are ranked 93rd).

Baptist Hill's win came from a few key players Cross will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Douglas, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 27 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Martrell Wright, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Baptist Hill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Cross, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Cross was able to grind out a solid victory over Baptist Hill in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 60-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Baptist Hill's Rickey Middleton Jr, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
