Baseball Recap: Burton Pumas vs. KIPP King Lions

If Burton was riding high fresh off their 26-0 takedown of KIPP SF College Prep last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Burton fell 24-19 to the KIPP King Lions on Friday.

Burton got a massive performance out of Elijah Alferez, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Alferez has posted since back in February of 2024. Isaac Bautista was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Burton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .592 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
