Recap: Buena Vista Bison vs. Benson Bunnies

This season hasn't been kind to the Buena Vista Bison, who are still winless after their ninth match. They took a serious blow against Benson on Friday, falling 57-22. Buena Vista has not had much luck with Benson recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Buena Vista's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Smith, who scored three points along with ten rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Buena Vista struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Benson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Goanar Bamach out in front who scored 17 points along with three blocks and two steals. Dominik Rice was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.

Buena Vista's loss was their 16th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.1 points per game. As for Benson, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena Vista won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bryan at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Bryan is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65 points per game. Benson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Norfolk on January 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Norfolk is ranked 192nd, while Benson is ranked 200th).
