Recap: McKenzie Eagles vs. Lewis Academy Watchmen

The McKenzie Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 47-29 fall against Lewis Academy. McKenzie lost against Lewis Academy in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-32 score last time.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rhys Hamlow, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hamlow pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Salomon Acevedo, who scored five points.

McKenzie's loss was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.5 points per game. As for Lewis Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.

McKenzie and Eddyville will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eddyville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Lewis Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Willamette Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Willamette Valley Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last three games.
