Volleyball Recap: Oldenburg Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Oldenburg Academy dropped to 18-5 on Thursday, ending the team's five-match streak of wins on the road. They lost 3-0 to the Greensburg Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 last Saturday.

Despite the loss, Oldenburg Academy still got an impressive performance from Lillian Vanderpohl, who had 13 digs. Vanderpohl has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last three times she's played.

As for Greensburg, the victory (which was their 20th in a row) raised their record to 23-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Oldenburg Academy since August 17, 2021.

Leading Greensburg to victory were Kirkley Lowe and Lauren Powers. Lowe had 13 digs and two aces, while Powers had six digs and four aces. That's the most digs Lowe has posted over her last seven matches.

Oldenburg Academy and Greensburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Twisters will face off against Franklin County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (105 vs. 383). Meanwhile, Greensburg (ranked 20th) will meet Batesville (ranked 73rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
