Basketball Recap: Casteel Takes a Loss

After flying high against Desert Ridge last Thursday, Casteel came back down to earth. The Casteel Colts lost to the Xavier College Prep Gators on the road by a 53-39 margin on Friday.

It was another big night for Irene(Noelle) Guiamatsia, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals for Xavier College Prep. Guiamatsia is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sariah McNabb, who posted 11 points along with five boards and five steals.

Casteel's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Xavier College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casteel and Eastmark will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastmark will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Casteel surely won't give up without a fight. Xavier College Prep will take on West Point in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Xavier College Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
