Volleyball Recap: Tanque Verde Comes Up Short

Tanque Verde lost against Salpointe Catholic back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hawks fell 2-0 to the Lancers.

Payton Balsiger paced Tanque Verde's offense, picking up five kills. Balsiger got some help from Cayla Vimmerstedt and her eight assists. Ella Haggard controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Salpointe Catholic was led to victory by Caitlin Hurley and Nicole Monge. Hurley had eight assists and six digs, while Monge had six digs. That's the most digs Monge has posted over her last six matches.

Tanque Verde has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Salpointe Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Tanque Verde has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Sahuaro on the 20th. As for Salpointe Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Rincon/University on the 20th.
