Volleyball Recap: Preble Shawnee Comes Up Short

Preble Shawnee had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-16 to make it five. They lost 3-0 to the Newton Local Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Arrows of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Macy Price paced Preble Shawnee's offense, picking up five kills. Price got some help from Sallie Montgomery and her ten assists. Bailey Garnett controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for Newton Local, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

Among those leading the charge was Mya Denlinger, who had 11 digs and four aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 12 times she's played. Vivien Bowser also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Preble Shawnee has already played their next match (against Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Newton Local, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Russia on the 6th.
