Recap: Bishop O'Dowd Dragons vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Berkeley 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Bishop O'Dowd has posted yet this season.

Samuel Chavarin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Dixon, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Bishop O'Dowd's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Berkeley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season.

Bishop O'Dowd will take on Capital Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Capital Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for Berkeley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Castro Valley at 7:00 p.m. Castro Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 411th, while Berkeley is ranked 84th).
