Basketball Recap: Holdenville's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Holdenville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past the Chandler Lions 79-59. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 61-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Holdenville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mike Piza out in front who went 11-for-21 en route to 29 points. Those 29 points gave Piza a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Seeley, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Holdenville pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points over those games. As for Chandler, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 20-3.

Looking ahead, Holdenville will host Henryetta at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chandler, they will head out to challenge McLoud at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
