Basketball Game Preview: South St. Paul Packers vs. St. Paul Central Minutemen

The South St. Paul Packers will challenge the St. Paul Central Minutemen at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, South St. Paul came up short against Hastings and fell 56-44. The loss continues a trend for the Packers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Paul Central). They blew past Harding, posting an 88-27 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Minutemen with their most commanding win of the season.

St. Paul Central found their leader in freshman Elizabeth Adedigba, who posted 23 points. Those 23 points gave Adedigba a new career-high. Cynara Easley was another key player, putting up 14 points.

St. Paul Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for South St. Paul, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Everything came up roses for South St. Paul against St. Paul Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 62-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South St. Paul since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
