Softball Preview: Smithfield Sentinels vs. Chariho Chargers
The Smithfield Sentinels will head out on the road to face off against the Chariho Chargers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Smithfield and five for Chariho.
Last Thursday, Smithfield came up short against Prout and fell 9-4.
Maddie Bose and Skyla Oliveira stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bose went 1-for-1 with two runs and a triple, while Oliveira scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Chariho fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Pilgrim on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4.
