Basketball Game Preview: Destin Sharks vs. L.E.A.D. Academy Lions

Having just played yesterday, the Destin Sharks will get right back to it and host the L.E.A.D. Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Thursday, Destin didn't have quite enough to beat Pace and fell 52-49.

Meanwhile, L.E.A.D. Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Snook Christian Academy. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, L.E.A.D. Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Andrew Holcomb went 9 for 21 on his way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holcomb has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Floyd, who posted seven points and four steals.

L.E.A.D. Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Destin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Everything came up roses for Destin against L.E.A.D. Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 78-26 win. Will Destin repeat their success, or does L.E.A.D. Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
