Recap: Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs vs. Munford Cougars
After a string of five wins, the Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. The game between Raleigh-Egypt and Munford wasn't particularly close, with Raleigh-Egypt falling 77-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Raleigh-Egypt still got an impressive performance from Cassie Bullard, who scored 29 points. Bullard hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Ward, who scored 11 points.
Munford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Murray Norman, who shot 6-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. Norman is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Jadyn Lee was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds.
Raleigh-Egypt's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Munford, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Raleigh-Egypt will take on Brighton at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Brighton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Raleigh-Egypt is ranked 99th). As for Munford, Munford and Millington Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Millington Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Munford likes a good challenge.
