Basketball Recap: Judah Freeman Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

Hough won the last time they faced West Mecklenburg and things went their way on Friday too. The Hough Huskies blew past the West Mecklenburg Hawks 57-34. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Hawks are ranked 551st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hough's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Judah Freeman, who posted 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Freeman a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Evan Otto, who earned eight points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, West Mecklenburg had strong showings from Chase Mcdonald, who scored 14 points, and Josiah Pratt, who had 11 points and seven boards. That was a full 41.2% of West Mecklenburg's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

With the victory, Hough broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-10. As for West Mecklenburg, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Hough will take on West Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Mecklenburg, they will face off against North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Mecklenburg knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully West Mecklenburg likes a good challenge.
