Softball Game Preview: Stone Ridge Christian Knights vs. Big Valley Christian Lions

The Stone Ridge Christian Knights will head out to take on the Big Valley Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stone Ridge Christian has four straight victories, Big Valley Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Stone Ridge Christian played against Modesto Christian on Wednesday and won via forfeit.

Big Valley Christian's last matchup with Linden could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. Big Valley Christian came up short against Linden, falling 15-9. The defeat was just more heartbreak for Big Valley Christian who fell 8-6 when the teams previously met back in April.

Cecily Fontana made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailey Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Stone Ridge Christian pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-18.

Stone Ridge Christian couldn't quite get it done against Big Valley Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
