Basketball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View was the 53-46 winner over Dobson when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Mountain View Toros fell just short of the Dobson Mustangs by a score of 45-43 on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain View lost, don't look at Emma Fischbeck. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Fischbeck has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Christensen, who posted eight points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Mountain View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Leading Dobson to victory were Lana Shirley and Aliana Garcia. Shirley dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards, while Garcia put up seven points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Shirley now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaria Rankin, who had six points and three steals.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Dobson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-17 record this season.

Mountain View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-38 loss against Mesa on the 13th. As for Dobson, they have also already played their next game, a 44-30 win against Skyline on the 12th.
