Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Yellowjackets vs. Tokay Tigers

Franklin has won three straight games at home, while Tokay has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Franklin's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six games.

Last Friday, Franklin got the win against Chavez by a conclusive 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Devan McMinn was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Dallas Campoy was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Tokay's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 15-7 to Manteca. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 19th.

Brock Sell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Tokay's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Tokay, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Both Franklin and Tokay just can't seem to miss. The Yellowjackets have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Tokay struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Franklin was able to grind out a solid win over Tokay when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 10-6. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
