Softball Recap: Western Harnett Takes a Loss

Western Harnett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-5 to the Harnett Central Trojans. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Western Harnett saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan McAuley, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave McAuley a new career-high in doubles (two). Grace Bancroft was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Western Harnett's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Harnett Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Harnett will welcome Corinth Holders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corinth Holders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Western Harnett's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harnett Central, they will be playing at home against Western Harnett at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
