Basketball Recap: Marianna Comes Up Short

Marianna lost against Rutherford back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Marianna Bulldogs took a blow against the Rutherford Rams, falling 56-13. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Rams are ranked 58th).

Ja'Shonna Mathis was Marianna's leading scorer, having posted six points. Mathis also led the team in rebounds with three.

This is the second loss in a row for Marianna and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Rutherford, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Marianna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-34 victory against Port St. Joe on the 6th. As for Rutherford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Ribault on the 4th.
