Baseball Game Preview: Forrest Rockets vs. Cannon County Lions

For the second straight game, Forrest will face off against Cannon County. The Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Forrest's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cannon County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Forrest barely beat Cannon County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rockets put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-2 victory on Tuesday. The Rockets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 16-0).

Reid Gentry spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Forrest got a massive performance out of Kason Fuller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Fuller has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Branham Haynes, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Forrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Forrest has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cannon County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.
