Canyon got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the East Central Hornets 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

Canyon's win bumped their record up to 7-3-2. As for East Central, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7-3.

Coming up, Canyon will venture away from home to take on Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Central, they will welcome Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
