Softball Preview: Hillsborough Terriers vs. King Lions
Hillsborough is 10-0 against King since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hillsborough Terriers will look to defend their home field against the King Lions at 7:00 p.m. King took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hillsborough, who comes in off a win.
After only one run in their last matchup, Hillsborough made sure to put some runs up on the board against Armwood on Tuesday. Hillsborough put the hurt on Armwood with a sharp 20-4 win.
Jazmyn Cande was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (she also only allowed one walk). Cande has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Cande was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Thea Williams and Elizabeth Hagan did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Hagan scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Williams is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Arianna Gonzalez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, sadly, King is still looking for their first win of the season after 14 games. They fell 7-4 to Blake on Tuesday.
Hillsborough's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for King, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
