Basketball Recap: Dixie Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaylia Turner and Kerrie O'shields

After soaring to 63 points the game before, Dixie was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Crescent Tigers an easy 40-14 win. The contest marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dixie's loss came despite strong showings from Kerrie O'Shields and Jaylia Turner. O'Shields posted six points along with five boards and three steals, while Turner earned four points and three steals. O'Shields is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Dixie's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Crescent, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Dixie will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on GREEN Upstate at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Dixie is facing GREEN Upstate at the right time seeing as GREEN Upstate is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Crescent and Liberty will round out the year against one another at at 6:15 p.m. on December 27th.
