Softball Recap: Mission Bay Triumphs

Mission Bay owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top against the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-0. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-4 victory on Wednesday.

Abby Nelson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kassie Zavala, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Mission Bay hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Mission Bay's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Palo Verde Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Mission Bay nor Palo Verde Valley have any future games scheduled.
