After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Poquoson, Bruton was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Lafayette Rams by a score of 5-2. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Ryan Hazelwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Hayden Zimmerman was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was William Muller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bruton's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Lafayette, their record is now 4-7.

Looking ahead, Bruton will head out to square off against Warhill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Kent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
