Baseball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Laguna Creek Cardinals

For the second straight game, Elk Grove will face off against Laguna Creek. The Thundering Herd will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

While Elk Grove's win against Laguna Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Thundering Herd had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 4-3 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Thundering Herd in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Colton Lincoln looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Elk Grove: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Antonio Cuevas, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laguna Creek struck out ten times.
