Baseball Game Preview: River Rouge Panthers vs. Rose Leadership Academy

The River Rouge Panthers will challenge Rose Leadership Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. River Rouge will be strutting in after a victory while Rose Leadership Academy will be coming in after a loss.

River Rouge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lincoln-King Academy on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-5 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Hobbs Will was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Will was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathaniel Stallworth, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Robert Johnson was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

River Rouge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Rose Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Henry Ford Academy, falling 12-5.

Rose Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for River Rouge, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.

Everything went River Rouge's way against Rose Leadership Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as River Rouge made off with an 18-11 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do Rose Leadership Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
