Basketball Recap: Lafayette Comes Up Short

Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 48-34 bruising from the New Hope Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Trojans are ranked 42nd).

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for New Hope, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lafayette will take on rival West Point at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, New Hope is set to challenge their familiar foe Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
