Basketball Recap: Fort Ann Takes a Loss

Fort Ann and Germantown squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Fort Ann had to settle for second. They took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Germantown Clippers. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 44-38 to the Clippers when the teams met back in February of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Ann lost, don't look at Kadence Cutter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Cutter is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Stowhas, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Fort Ann smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Fort Ann's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Germantown, with the win, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-19.

Fort Ann does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Germantown, they will face off against Hawthorne Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Germantown will be up against Hawthorne Valley's rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.74 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
