The Van Nuys Wolves will take on the Reseda Regents at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Van Nuys has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Van Nuys came up short against Golden Valley on Thursday, falling 16-6.
Van Nuys saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ARIEL PUENTE, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Reseda got the win against Monroe on Friday by a conclusive 21-3. The result was nothing new for the Regents, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Helene Salazar was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Salazar was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fuentes Thereze, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Robertson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Reseda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The win got Reseda back to even at 6-6. As for Van Nuys, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Van Nuys hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Reseda struggles in that department as they've averaged .496. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
