Baseball Game Preview: Jordan Falcons vs. Hillside Hornets

For the second straight game, Jordan will face off against Hillside. The Falcons will take on the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jordan has five straight wins, Hillside has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Jordan's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Hillside 21-0. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly 21 runs.

Luke Samples looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Jordan got a massive performance out of Carson Hickey, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Hickey a new career-high. Joe Griffin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jordan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.6.

Jordan pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hillside, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Hillside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Jordan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game.
