Baseball Recap: Logan Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cimarron on Friday, Logan came back down to earth. The Longhorns fell just short of the Magdalena Steers by a score of 8-7 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Steers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-1 loss last Friday.

Kale Griffiths put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Aydin Kotara made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Logan: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Damien Jones-Salvador was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Logan's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Magdalena, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Logan is set to face off against their familiar foe Grady at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Magdalena will square off against rival Cimarron at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
