Basketball Recap: Yulee's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to Baker County the last time they met, Yulee decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Yulee Hornets came out on top against the Baker County Wildcats by a score of 65-52 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Yulee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Newby, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Gibbs, who posted 11 points and seven assists.

Yulee was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baker County only racked up nine assists.

Baker County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jackson Carver, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Gerald Ruise was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Yulee's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Baker County, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Yulee will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Charlton County at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Baker County, they will head out to square off against Stanton at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
