Baseball Game Preview: Maranatha Christian Eagles vs. Francis Parker Lancers

The Maranatha Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Francis Parker Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Maranatha Christian has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maranatha Christian managed to slip by Bishop's the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 16-3 to the Knights on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Maranatha Christian got a good showing from Nathaniel Dorcas, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dorcas has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maranatha Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Francis Parker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of La Jolla Country Day.

Francis Parker's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1. As for Maranatha Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Everything went Maranatha Christian's way against Francis Parker when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Maranatha Christian made off with a 14-4 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
