Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Takes a Loss

Caprock Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 65-34 defeat at the hands of the Plateau Valley Cowboys. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.

Leading Plateau Valley to victory were Macy Bevan and Emaline Ealey. Bevan went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Ealey went 8-for-10 on her way to 20 points and four steals. That's the most points Ealey has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Wilkerson, who had six points and five assists.

Caprock Academy's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Plateau Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Coming up, Caprock Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Junction Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plateau Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-29 victory against Soroco on the 15th.
